NASA improved the SLS rocket’s hydrogen loading procedure after a leak caused delays during the Artemis I test flight. For the upcoming Artemis II mission, these lessons are already integrated, and a new “wet dress” rehearsal is the critical step before any launch. If this rehearsal is successful, a February launch remains feasible.
Crucially, NASA has modified the rocket with structural arms to access the flight termination system at the launch pad. This prevents the need to roll the rocket back to the hangar for retesting—a delay that plagued the previous mission—allowing it to remain at the pad through February and March.
