Tesla lost the majority of its new-car buyers in California last year, indicating that the EV maker is losing market share in one of the world’s largest EV markets. While the EV industry slowed overall, Tesla’s registrations in the state fell 11.6% to about 200,600 vehicles. By comparison, registrations for all new vehicles in California declined only 0.4% to 1.76 million. Tesla’s market share among new car registrations in California, among all vehicle classes, fell from 12.5% in 2022 to 11.4% in 2023.
