A low-dose combination of zinc, serine, and branched-chain amino acids improved brain function and social behavior in autism mouse models. This nutrient mix restored normal synaptic protein expression and calmed overactivity in the amygdala, a brain region linked to social behavior. Importantly, each nutrient alone showed no benefit, indicating a synergistic effect. This study suggests that a multi-nutrient approach could be a promising strategy for targeting the brain circuits implicated in autism spectrum disorder.
