Seven senior Labour MPs, who chair parliamentary committees, have urged the UK government to ban political donations made in cryptocurrency. In a letter to Downing Street, the MPs argued that the opaque nature of crypto transactions poses a “real risk to our democracy” by making it difficult to trace the true source of funds. They warned that digital currencies could be exploited by foreign states to influence UK politics.
