Senegal’s reserve goalkeeper, Yehvann Diouf, has humorously reflected on his unexpected role in the team’s chaotic 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final victory over Egypt. Following a 0-0 draw, the match went to a penalty shootout. After starting keeper Édouard Mendy made a crucial save and Sadio Mané scored the winning penalty, Diouf sprinted onto the pitch to join the wild celebrations before the final whistle had officially blown.
