Scientists sent bacteria-infecting viruses to the International Space Station and observed that microbes behaved differently in microgravity. Although infections still occurred, both viruses and bacteria evolved in unique ways compared to their Earth counterparts. Genetic changes altered how viruses attach to bacteria and how the bacteria defend themselves. The findings could help improve phage therapies, offering new strategies to combat drug-resistant infections. (69 words)
