Researchers from New England Biolabs and Yale University have engineered the first fully synthetic bacteriophage system targeting Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a significant antibiotic-resistant pathogen. Published in PNAS, the study details a method using NEB’s High-Complexity Golden Gate Assembly (HC-GGA) platform. This innovative technology allows scientists to synthesize bacteriophages directly from sequence data rather than relying on natural isolates. This advancement provides a promising new strategy for combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria. (68 words)
