With their upcoming playoff matchup against the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots have signed defensive end Darrell Taylor to their practice squad and released veteran running back Elijah Mitchell.
Mitchell originally signed with the Patriots in late December but never appeared in a game. Prior to joining New England, he played one game for the Kansas City Chiefs. Mitchell originally entered the league as a 49ers sixth-round pick, rushing for 1,523 yards over three seasons in San Francisco, though injuries and the subsequent acquisition of Christian McCaffrey significantly limited his workload.
