In 2025, the International Space Station celebrated 25 years of continuous human presence, marking a milestone in scientific exploration. The orbiting laboratory hosted over 750 experiments, yielding significant breakthroughs across various fields. A key achievement was the development of a new FDA-approved injectable cancer treatment, informed by crystal growth studies in microgravity. Additionally, medical implants for nerve regeneration were successfully 3D-printed aboard the station.
The station also advanced our understanding of the Sun with new observations of solar wind and tracked its own microbial footprint during a spacewalk. A record-setting moment occurred when all eight docked spacecraft were occupied simultaneously. These investigations are already supporting future missions, with some experiments adapting the station’s technology for lunar landings.
