Roasted coffee may help control blood sugar. Researchers discovered several new compounds in coffee that inhibit α-glucosidase, an enzyme linked to type 2 diabetes. Some of these compounds were even more potent than a common anti-diabetic medication. This study also introduced a faster, “greener” method for identifying health-boosting compounds in complex foods.
