Sean Clifford is suing Prenuvo, a whole-body MRI provider, for $25 million after the company allegedly missed a 60% narrowing of a major brain artery in his $2,500 scan. Clifford claims that Prenuvo reported his July 2023 scan showed “no adverse finding,” yet he suffered a catastrophic stroke in March 2024, leaving him permanently disabled.
The lawsuit argues that timely detection could have led to preventative treatment. Prenuvo attempted to limit damages by pushing for arbitration and applying California’s malpractice caps, but a New York judge rejected these efforts. The radiologist who reviewed the scan has faced prior disciplinary action, including a suspended license related to an insurance fraud scheme involving MRI findings.
