Brendan Banfield is on trial for the murder of his wife, Christine, and Joseph Ryan. The trial has drawn attention to the family au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, who testified against Banfield. Magalhæs detailed an elaborate catfishing scheme used to lure Ryan to the Banfield home to frame him for Christine’s stabbing. Magalhæs has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Ryan’s death and is cooperating with the government.
