On January 6, 2026, a NASA satellite captured an image of dense fog and low clouds over the Ganges Delta, part of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. This winter weather, caused by cool ground temperatures and abundant moisture, created “cloud streets” over the Bay of Bengal. The dense fog severely disrupted daily life, causing major travel delays and airport closures in Bangladesh and northern India.
