A severe (G4) geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for January 20, caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME) from a solar flare on January 18. The CME is expected to reach Earth late on January 19 or early on January 20, with initial storm levels ranging from G1 to G3. While conditions are forecast to weaken later on January 20, G1 levels may persist into January 21. Forecasters are fairly confident in the arrival time, and further updates are available on the SWPC webpage.
