Freshman Gavin Sykes was named Big West Player of the Week after leading Long Beach State to two victories. Sykes scored a career-high 34 points in a win at CSUN, setting a program record for most points by a freshman. He added 16 points against UC Riverside, averaging 25.0 points over the two games. Currently ranked sixth nationwide in freshman scoring (18.9 ppg) and second in the Big West, Sykes is the first Beach player to earn the honor this season.
