Apple Tried To Tamper Proof AirTag 2 Speakers – I Broke It
The 2nd generation AirTags just launched with what Apple claims is a louder speaker, increased Bluetooth range, and improved location tracking thanks to an upgraded Ultrawideband chip. Rumour also has it that Apple attempted to tamper-proof the speakers in these tags in an effort to ensure privacy. Muting these things is a popular mod, used both for legitimate and nefarious purposes.
So naturally, a pack of 4 found its way to the iFixit teardown table for one of the quickest teardowns I’m likely to do this year.
