Tiffany Haddish gives ‘Girls Trip 2’ update: ‘Studio dragging their feet’

Tiffany Haddish is nobody’s fool.

The actress, 46, always knew that both the viewers and her former co-stars wanted a sequel to the 2017 comedy “Girls Trip.”

Starring alongside Regina Hall, Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith, the movie follows four best friends as they rekindle their wild side.

Now, nine years later, a “Girls Trip 2” is in the works.

“We’ve been having a group chat for years. We’ve been trying to get the movie made for years. We’re on top of it,” Haddish exclusively told The Post at Steven Tyler’s 7th annual Jam for Janie on Sunday. “We’ve always been a cohesive unit. It’s the studio dragging their feet.”

As for who the comic would want to see join the powerhouse women in a second film, she noted: “Meryl Streep.”

“I want to work with her,” Haddish said. “I just put it in the universe.”

“And Viola Davis, I think she’s gonna be in this one, too,” the “Like a Boss” star gushed. “I just put it out there. I just saw her the other day, and I was like, dang, I want to work with her. I mean, we talk on the phone and laugh and stuff, but I would love to work with her.”

Haddish knows that Davis, 60, would thrive in the comedic space.

“She got jokes. Her timing is impeccable. She’s so strategic about it,” the comedian said. “She’s always trying to show how smart she is but you have to be very intelligent in order to be funny. And she is one of those people. She just don’t show y’all because y’all not ready. I’m going to inspire her to show you guys because she funny!”

The pair did work together on the 2019 ABC special “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: ‘All in the Family’ and ‘Good Times.’”

While Haddish has Davis on speed dial, she’s also looking to work with Leonardo DiCaprio in a romantic comedy.

“He needs a rom-com,” she mused. “I haven’t seen him in a rom-com so we would do a rom-com. Most unlikely pair. Fish out of water.”

“I see Leo often but we’re just friends,” Haddish teased. “But in my mind other things happen. He knows that about me. I know a lot about Leo. I’ve seen Leo around town for years and years.”

Specifically, the “Bad Trip” actress joked she is “thinking about me and him buck naked in a room making music. You talk about collaborations and my brain goes there. That’s what’s going to happen!”

In 2024, Haddish revealed she propositioned DiCaprio, 51, when they first met.

“I told him, ‘I want to f–k, but only if you are your character out of ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,’” she said on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show.”

In the 1993 film, the Oscar winner portrayed the role of Arnie Grape, a young boy with special needs.

Haddish confessed that she is “still working on” convincing DiCaprio to sleep with her.

“I think I might be too old,” she quipped. “I don’t think I’m his type.”

DiCaprio has been dating Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, 27, since 2023.

But in the meantime, Haddish is booked and busy as “Girls Trip 2” shoots later this year.

“I don’t know exactly where we’re going, but I know it’s somewhere exotic and somewhere we don’t normally go, but we should go as much as possible,” she told People in November.

“That’s what I do know,” Haddish stated. “We’re supposed to start shooting this summer.”

In 2023, Hall, 55, reacted to the news that one scene in the project is set at Ghana’s annual Afrochella music festival.

“So I’m assuming that that’s going to be fun. I’m excited to see the girls again and to make something hopefully that the fans love,” she told Variety. “I think the biggest thing is we had so much fun making the first one. And I just look forward to just having that kind of fun again and that audiences will hopefully love it as well.”
