Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga left Thursday’s game against the Mavericks with a second-quarter ankle injury and was ruled out early in the third. Kuminga, who had 10 points in nine minutes, reportedly asked to come out after tweaking the ankle.
This injury exacerbates Golden State’s critical lack of size at the forward position. With Jimmy Butler out for the season and only Draymond Green and Gui Santos remaining as true forwards, the roster is dangerously thin. Trayce Jackson-Davis is needed at center behind Quinten Post and Al Horford, leaving a gaping hole at the three and four. To address this, the Warriors may need to explore the trade market, including the possibility of flipping Kuminga for a more physical forward.
