Amazon MGM Studios is releasing a new live-action Masters of the Universe film, focusing on He-Man’s origin story. This follows the critically panned 1987 Dolph Lundgren flop and nearly two decades of stalled development—shifting from Warner Bros. to Sony, then Netflix, before finally landing at Amazon.
After Netflix canceled the project over budget concerns in 2023, Amazon picked up the rights. Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is directing, with Nicholas Galitzine cast as He-Man. The film aims to leverage nostalgia for the 1980s franchise.
