Last week and on Jan. 5, seven people were killed and five others injured in crashes on Arkansas roads, according to preliminary police reports.
The fatal incidents included:
- Jan. 5 (London): Jason Dotson, 47, was killed driving against traffic on I-40, striking a truck. Truck driver Anthoney Hale, 47, was injured.
- Wednesday (Jonesboro): Robert Furches, 71, died when his truck struck another vehicle at an intersection. The other driver, Dinh Linh Hong, 55, was injured.
- Thursday (Poinsett County): Jared Smith, 28, was struck and killed while standing in a lane of traffic on I-555.
- Thursday (Berryville): Heather Lehr, 56, died after her car crossed the centerline and struck a concrete wall on U.S. 62.
- Thursday (Nevada County): Demarcus Aaron, 27, died when his car left the roadway and hit a tree. Two passengers, Lakiyah Hopson, 22, and Jonavan Robinson, 18, were injured.
- Friday (Pulaski County): Alene Drummond, 64, died when her truck left Arkansas 10 and struck a tree.
- Friday (Poinsett County): Larry Neal, 56, died in a head-on collision on I-555 after his car crossed the median. The truck driver, Mark Torbert, 48, was injured.
