According to a new report from The Information, Apple is developing an AI wearable pin, potentially releasing it in 2027 to compete with OpenAI’s rumored device. Described as a circular disc slightly thicker than an AirTag, the device features an aluminum-and-glass shell, a single button, and a charging interface similar to the Apple Watch.
The pin is designed with two cameras—a standard and a wide-angle lens—along with a speaker and three microphones to capture surroundings and audio. This move signals Apple’s ramped-up efforts in the AI hardware space, complementing its recent partnership with Google for Gemini integration.
However, development is reportedly in the very early stages, and Apple may cancel the project if it doesn’t meet the company’s standards. The wearable market has proven difficult, exemplified by Humane’s recent failures, and Apple’s success is not yet guaranteed.
