One of the world’s largest manga piracy aggregators, Bato.to, has shut down due to legal pressure. The site, which attracted over 100 million monthly visits, was accompanied by the deletion of its official Discord server.
A moderator cited “ongoing issues related to the site and resulting legal challenges” as the reason for the shutdown. This event marks a significant blow to the piracy community, following similar recent takedowns of MangaDex and Comick. Staff members have urged users to support creators through official platforms and announced plans to create a new, legal community focused on reading.
