Denmark and France have firmly rejected any US claims over Greenland. Danish officials reiterated that the territory’s sovereignty is a "red line," while French Finance Minister Roland Lescure warned that a US takeover would cross a severe boundary.
Lescure told the Financial Times that such a move would create a "totally new world," signaling that the EU would likely respond with retaliatory trade sanctions against the US. France specifically cautioned that such aggression would endanger the transatlantic trade relationship, with officials asserting that the EU must adapt to protect its interests should the US pursue the territory.
