According to a federal indictment unsealed Thursday, federal prosecutors have charged twenty men in a widespread point-shaving scheme involving more than 39 college basketball players across 17 NCAA Division I teams. The indictment alleges that the group fixed at least 29 games during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, offering players bribes between $10,000 and $30,000 to manipulate outcomes.
The scheme reportedly began in September 2022 targeting the Chinese Basketball Association before shifting focus to U.S. college sports. Prosecutors state the group defrauded sportsbooks and bettors by placing wagers on the compromised games. Two defendants were previously linked to NBA gambling schemes, and former NBA player Antonio Blakeney was named in the document but is facing separate charges.
