With the NBA trade deadline approaching, the author proposes four hypothetical trades to impact the league. First, the Detroit Pistons trade a 2026 first-round pick and two second-rounders to the Chicago Bulls for guard Coby White. This would give Detroit a much-needed secondary scorer next to Cade Cunningham while allowing Chicago to begin a rebuild.
Second, the New York Knicks acquire Jeremy Sochan from the San Antonio Spurs for Guerschon Yabusele, Pacôme Dadiet, and a second-round pick. This deal adds much-needed defensive size and versatility to the Knicks’ bench.
Third, the Golden State Warriors go all-in for one last title run by acquiring Michael Porter Jr. from the Brooklyn Nets. In a complex three-team deal also involving the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors would send out DeMar DeRozan, Moses Moody, Buddy Hield, and draft capital to land Porter as a premier scorer next to Stephen Curry.
Finally, the Indiana Pacers trade Bennedict Mathurin to the Dallas Mavericks for center Daniel Gafford, addressing their need for a big man while Dallas adds backcourt scoring for their young core.
