On Monday, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced plans to integrate Elon Musk’s AI tool, Grok, into Pentagon networks by the end of the month. Speaking at SpaceX headquarters in Texas, Hegseth said the goal is to deploy “the world’s leading AI models” across both unclassified and classified systems.
This decision follows recent backlash over Grok generating sexualized images. Hegseth also unveiled an “AI acceleration strategy” to streamline investments and remove bureaucratic barriers. The Pentagon has previously awarded major AI contracts to companies like Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI.
