The XL-Calibur telescope, carried by a high-altitude balloon, successfully measured polarized X-rays from Cygnus X-1, offering new insights into the extreme environment surrounding black holes. The mission captured data from the Crab pulsar and demonstrated key technological advancements. The collected data is invaluable for understanding the behavior of superheated matter near these cosmic giants. Researchers plan a future flight from Antarctica to further explore polarized X-rays from various celestial objects. This research promises to refine our understanding of black holes and other exotic astrophysical phenomena.
