Eligible Amazon Prime subscribers will receive automatic refunds between November 12th and December 24th as part of a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This stems from allegations that Amazon knowingly made it difficult for users to cancel their Prime subscriptions. Impacted customers do not need to take any action to receive their refund, as it will be automatically processed by Amazon during the specified period. The FTC accused Amazon of using deceptive “dark patterns” to prevent cancellations, leading to this agreement and the subsequent refund distribution.
